The term noosphere (Greek νόος – mind and σφαῖρα – sphere) was proposed by the French mathematician Édouard Le Roy and also used by the French scientist Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. The noosphere is a new stage of evolution of the biosphere – the sphere of Mind (collective unconscious). At the core of this theory are the ideas of Plotinus (a student of Plato) about the One Whole (the unknowable First Existence (nothing), identified with the Good), whose subsequent transformations flow and return again to the One. According to Plotinus, matter arises as a limitation of this One Whole. When it reaches a certain level of development, the transformations from the sensory world begin to realize their own incompleteness and strive for reunion with the One.
